What you are reading

These posts are based on presentations at St. Paul's Memorial Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, Virginia, during Lent 2011.

In these presentations, we explore the issues of marriage, blessing, and same-sex marriage as it is evolving in the Episcopal Church. As such, we are attempting to take seriously the challenge presented to us by Bishop Shannon Johnston, at our 2011 Diocesan Council, to forthrightly examine these issues in our parishes. We take responsibility for any flaws, misstatements or misunderstandings. We ask for your charity in understanding.

These presentations were made during Sunday forums by The Very Rev. James Richardson, Rector of St. Paul's, and The Rev. Dr. Heather Warren, who is a professor of Religious Studies at the University of Virginia. We plan to polish these and give them again in other settings.

We offer these presentations freely to the Church at large. Please feel free to adapt these to your local settings. We would appreciate hearing from you on the comments section of this blog, or by private email at revjimr@yahoo.com. We suggest you start at the bottom, with Part I, and work your way up.

May many blessings follow you always.
